Inventors from Around the World Receive Prestigious Awards at INPEX®

Trade Show Director, Jennifer Lawlor, presents a five thousand dollar check to the Grand Prix winner, Deborah Yungner, for her invention, ERBUSINPEX The Invention Show, hosted it's closing awards dinner for the 2005 show at Heinz Field. The event was sponsored by IBI Global. More than 100 award winners were announced in over 40 different categories. All of the inventions were exhibited June 8-11, at the Greater Pittsburgh ExpoMart.

The inventions recognized run the gamut from concept to finished product, from high-tech to 'why didn't I think of that' items. Awards were presented in categories ranging from advertising to transportation as well as special awards from corporations and individuals. An international jury judged the inventions based on usefulness, creativity and overall appeal. The following individuals won these special awards:

  • Grand Prix Award, a $5,000 cash prize, was awarded to Deborah Yungner, for ERBUS Emergency Response Backup Utility System
  • Grand Prix First Runner-up, a $2,000 cash prize, was awarded to Jackson C.S. Chan for Fridge-to-go Grand Prix Second Runner-up, a $1,000 cash prize, was awarded to Paula Ward for The Parental Internet Guard
  • IBI Global Scholarship, a $6,500 dollar value, was awarded to Deborah Yungner and Nicholas Fornario
  • Innovators Cup presented to Shaun David Green for the Safe Shopper Techno! Invent Special Award presented to James Kim for Ride Safer Travel Vest
  • Best Invention of the Americas presented to Thomas Delong for Sink and Drink Ambassador Award was awarded to Guy Van der Beken for Conceptum Group
  • Woman Inventor of the Year presented to Deborah Yungner of the ERBUS Emergency Response Backup Utility System
  • Skyline Most Innovative Display Award presented by Skyline Display of Pittsburgh to Diana Browning for Browning's Christmas Tree Stand
