INPEX, America's Largest Invention Trade Show, was held June 8-11, 2005 in Pittsburgh, Pa. In its 21st year, INPEX 2005 boasted one of its largest exhibitor showings to date, featuring approximately 300 inventors from 20 countries, and 1,000 inventions.
The show floor was open daily for manufacturers and attendees to scout for new products to license, manufacture, market or commercialize. From fishing lures and baby blankets, to disaster relief vehicles and flying cars, INPEX had a product idea that could fit into almost any category. A listing of inventions exhibited this year is available on the Invention Show Web site. More detailed product information, including demonstrations of some of the products is available on the Invention Place Web site.
Unpatented inventions were exhibited in the Inventor's Galleria, an enclosed area just off the main show floor. These confidential ideas could be viewed by attendees who first registered with the InventHelp® Data Bank. Non-confidential descriptions of these new product ideas are also available on the Invention Show website. To view these ideas, or for more information about the InventHelp Data Bank, please call 1-800-424-2089 x4120.
Many first-time attendees were pleased by the quality of the inventions offered at INPEX. "I was blown away by the caliber of untapped product ideas that I saw at INPEX," said Jeffrey Badovick, president of APTEC, a product development firm from Daytona, Fla.
In addition to the exhibits on display, attendees were treated to a number of additional amenities that were offered for the first time at INPEX 2005. An improved VIP lounge with complimentary refreshments and Internet access was available to give attendees a quiet place to unwind or to meet with exhibitors off the show floor. One attendee even joked that he began to use the lounge like an "office away from the office."
But INPEX wasn't all business – when the show ended each day, there was always an event to keep everyone busy. One evening, INPEX took a group to Station Square on Pittsburgh's historic South Side. The former train station is now one of Pittsburgh's hotspots, with plenty of places for shopping, dining, dancing and sightseeing. Another evening, attendees had the chance to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team defeat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at PNC Park.
If you are interested in being a part of any of these events when you attend INPEX 2006, please mention it when you pre-register for the show.
Attendees were also invited to sit in on the seminars at INPEX Inventors University™, held each morning prior to the opening of the show floor. While the University's main focus is to provide information that will help inventors as they pursue their ideas, there are also a number of seminars, such as Romanus Wolter's "Kick Start Workshop," or Jill Lublin's "Guerrilla Publicity," meant to motivate and inspire everyone – even the most seasoned professional.
Many of the speakers at the INPEX Inventors University also take the time to meet with inventors one-on-one at the INPEX Inventors Resource Center, and find that speaking at INPEX is a good way to get word out about their own products as well. Tom Krol, chief technical officer of IMET Corporation, a prototyping company, has spoken at both the University and at the Resource Center. "A month later, we were still doing follow-ups. For us, attending INPEX is an excellent way to gain contacts and new business, but it was also a way to help other people out."
If presenting a seminar at the Inventors University or giving face-to-face advice to inventors in the Resource Center sounds like something you or your company would like to do at INPEX 2006, please call 1-888-544-6739 x4151.
