Highlights of INPEX 2016

InventHelp’s INPEX 2016 has wrapped, meaning this year’s exhibitors are now reaching out to the companies they may have met at the show in the hopes of moving forward with their invention. This year’s INPEX show brought inventors from all over the world to the Monroeville Convention Center for three days of product pitches, networking and relationship-building. Over 20 countries were represented among the hundreds of exhibiting inventors, with different delegations of inventors grouped throughout the show floor.

The show kicked off on Tuesday, June 7 with three morning seminars and a full day of trade show networking. Following the show, inventors were invited to mingle with their fellow exhibitors at a happy hour event, complete with tips on how to successfully network. While that event was happening on the first floor of the Doubletree Hotel, business attendees flocked to the Penthouse for a speakeasy-themed networking event.

Day 2 also began with educational seminars. Inventors then spent the rest of the day talking to companies and pitching their inventions. As an exciting mid-afternoon surprise for inventors, INPEX welcomed two-time heavyweight champion and successful entrepreneur George Foreman to the show for a quick photo with the champ. Following the show, business attendees were invited to another lively networking event with a wine and cheese theme.

The last day of the show started with seminars, one of which was George Foreman’s motivational keynote address. Foreman reflected on the recent loss of his close friend, Muhammad Ali, and spoke to the crowd of inventors about perseverance. The show concluded the afternoon of Thursday, June 9 and was followed with the INPEX International Awards Ceremony. The winners were awarded with merit awards, gold medals and a variety of special awards, including the Grand Prix award of $7,500. You can view a complete list of the winners here.

Each year, INPEX welcomes a group of qualified companies to participate in private product searches during the show, listening to scheduled pitches from exhibitors of their choosing. This year’s product search companies included Brookstone, QVC, Cuisinart, Great Star Tools, Schroeder & Tremayne, Allstar Marketing Group, Partsmaster, Danco, Retail Products Group and Pitchman Marc Gill. These unique appointments allow such companies to hear pitches for specific products relevant to their product line and meet face-to-face with the inventors, making the process of product review much simpler and streamlined.

INPEX also featured VIBE, the Virtual Invention Browsing Experience, a state-of-the-art product review system that debuted at the 2015 show. VIBE housed over 1,400 virtual inventions from InventHelp clients and allowed qualified companies to participate in private viewing sessions. Companies that got to use VIBE were assigned a grouping of inventions based on their product categories of interest. With VIBE, these companies had the opportunity to interact with these pre-populated virtual inventions, selecting the ones of most interest for further review.

The INPEX show provides a unique forum for companies looking for new products to meet with inventors, hear product pitches and demonstrations and network with other industry professionals. The next INPEX show will be held on June 13-15, 2017 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, located in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
