Patent Information: United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) – A patent for an invention is the grant of property rights to the inventor. Obtaining a patent may be a good idea before an inventor displays an invention at a trade show. To find out more about getting an invention patented, an individual should talk to a patent attorney.
Invention Prototypes: IMET Corporation – A prototype is a physical representation of an invention that shows either what the invention will look like or what it will do. Specializing in “Innovative Mechanical and Electrical Technology”, IMET offers a full suite of prototype-making services for inventors and their inventions.
Public Relations: Promising Promotion – Public relations guru Jill Lublin (a regular INPEX speaker) offers help for inventors and entrepreneurs who want to gain exposure for their new inventions but don't know where to start. She is the author of several books, including Guerilla Publicity and Networking Magic.
Community: Invention-Europe – European web portal and virtual community where inventors can find information and resources. Inventors may interact with each other and partners of Invention-Europe in specific forums.
International Trade Shows
Along with INPEX, America's largest invention trade show, there are number of other international trade shows each year where inventors exhibit new products:
IENA "Ideas, Inventions, New Products Exhibition" Held annually in Nuremberg, Germany. Past shows have included 450 exhibitors from 23 countries, with prestigious awards given to high-performance inventors. Takes place November 1–4, 2007.
INOVA The 32nd annual INOVA — Exhibition of Innovations and New Products — is an opportunity for innovators and entrepreneurs to meet with their colleagues from abroad and to launch their inventions to the Croatian market. Takes place November 7–11, 2007 at the Zegreb fair grounds in Croatia.
Brussels Innova-Energy A unique platform where industry and service providers, researchers, marketing professionals, inventors, investors and lawyers propose and exhibit concrete solutions to energy questions. Takes place November 22–25, 2007 in Belgium.
Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions For over 30 years, Geneva has seen its annual international inventions fair attract all sorts of new techniques and products. The 34th annual exhibition will take place April 2–6, 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland.
ARCA International exhibition of novelties, new ideas, products and technologies. Takes place at the Zegreb fair grounds in Croatia (ARCA 2007, the 5th annual show, took place September 11–16, 2007).
Seoul International Invention Fair Five-day event where inventors and researchers showcase their new ideas and products to manufacturers, investors, distributors, licensing firms and the general public. Takes place every two years – next show December 11–15, 2008.
