InventHelp® Scam Alert: Dangers of Working with a Fraudulent Invention Company

InventHelp scam tipsInventHelp would like to remind you that if you work with a company that does not follow the rules, you may find yourself the victim of an invention scam. The consequences of working with a dishonest firm may include:

  1. Getting false promises of success. As InventHelp tells you, success is the exception, and not the rule. Anyone who says otherwise may be trying to perpetrate a scam.
  2. Receiving unprofessional patent advice.
  3. Fewer chances of a company reviewing your idea.

The danger of a scam occurs when you deal with companies that do not follow government rules and guidelines to protect inventors.

When looking for someone to work with your new product idea, you should seek a firm with integrity that complies with the rules, such as InventHelp. An ethical company:

  1. Is forthright and tells you their fees in advance. This is a longstanding InventHelp policy.
  2. Gives you their track record up front and in writing. InventHelp provides you with this information. Companies which may be trying to scam inventors may not provide these figures.
  3. Complies with government laws, and can prove it by the language in their contracts and literature.
  4. Has offices in major cities that you can visit and where you can meet a live representative. InventHelp has more than 50 sales offices in the United States and abroad.
  5. Has an open-door invitation policy to visit their corporate headquarters and tour their operations.
  6. Can prove they have actually had some success stories. (i.e. Can you verify and buy one of their products in stores?)
  7. Has advertising that is straightforward and doesn't promise success. Any company that promises you profits from your invention is behaving like a scam.
  8. Will refer you to an independent patent attorney for patent services. This, too, is a longtime InventHelp policy.
  9. Can prove bona fide marketing activity, such as attending or participating in trade shows. InventHelp will give you a list of shows it attends and actually runs America's largest invention show, INPEX®.
  10. Is likely to be well-established. InventHelp has been in business since 1984.

We at InventHelp hope that this list will help inventors spot invention scams and fraud, and lead them toward ethical companies. If you get the run-around on the phone with any company regarding these issues, call 1-800-INVENTION [1-800-468-3684]. You will be dealing with InventHelp, America's leading inventor service company.
