Maryland Inventor to Exhibit "Surround Shower Chair" at America's Largest Invention Show

PITTSBURGH... INPEX®, America's Largest Invention Trade Show, announces that Gwendolyn Wilson, from Fort Washington, Md., has invented a showering device for people with disabilities. This patented invention will be exhibited at INPEX®, June 6-9, in Pittsburgh.

The "Surround Shower Chair" enables elderly, disabled or individuals undergoing rehabilitation to shower with limited assistance. The increase in privacy afforded by this invention allows people with compromised mobility to retain a greater sense of dignity. This device also provides a convenient means of addressing accessibility issues for bathing and showering without making any renovations or modifications to existing facilities.

The Surround Shower Chair is equipped with a built-in plumbing system, and features steel legs and an adjustable showerhead. One model of the Surround Shower Chair includes multiple overhead and side showers with individual control knobs. The showerheads are removable/handheld with massaging/non-massaging, extendable and adjustable overhead and side showers. To use, a person sits in the chair and bathes as water sprinkles out of the side panels and overhead showers. The user can control the flow and pressure of each water outlet with the individual control knobs.

The inventor was inspired to invent the Surround Shower Chair by personal experience. "Seeing the problems my mother faced as a disabled person, I wanted to provide a way for people like to her to be able to shower, bathe and shampoo their hair with privacy and dignity," she said.

Wilson is exhibiting at INPEX® with the hopes of finding a distributor or licensee.
