Sustainability

INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) announced that it held an eelgrass transplanting event part of the Tokyo Bay UMI Project on May 31, in cooperation with Kurita Water Industries Ltd., at Umi no Koen Park in Kanazawa Ward, Yokohama.

Since 2024, INPEX has been participating in the Tokyo Bay UMI Project, an environmental conservation initiative aimed at restoring and maintaining the rich natural environment in and around Tokyo Bay. The project seeks to enhance biodiversity by restoring eelgrass beds and to deepen the public's understanding and awareness of the marine environment. The project also brings together local companies and individuals to conduct activities such as eelgrass transplantation and seeding.

On the day of the event, more than 60 participants, including adults and children, took part. Following an educational session on eelgrass and the marine environment, participants planted approximately 700 eelgrass shoots on the seabed at Umi no Koen Park. Continued growth and expansion of eelgrass beds are expected in the coming years.

INPEX will continue to advance biodiversity conservation and sustainability management based on its mission of achieving a nature-positive future.
